What Is Your Worldview?
(Rev. Victor Nelson)
A worldview is a like a colored lens
by which we see the world and life.
The world and life is colored in certain
ways depending upon the lens.
For example,
a committed Christian
sees life differently than
a committed atheist.
We actually see the same thing,
but through different colored lens,
so the understanding is different.
Everyone has a worldview that has
been formed by their life experience
and their cultural background.
At one point in our history,
most Americans
had a common worldview.
That is not true today
and the result is social division.
In this presentation, we
will explore different worldviews.
We will explore the Biblical worldview.
You will discover you own worldview
and better understand the
worldview of others.
This will help you understand
why two people can see
the same thing, yet
understand it so differently.
SESSION TWO

Does God Exist?
(Rev. Victor Nelson)
Most people that ever walked
upon the earth assumed that
there was a god or gods
who made everything.
But today, there are many who
assume that there is no god (atheism)
or believe that they cannot
know if there is a god (agnosticism).
God has given us plenty of
evidence for his existence.
In this presentation, we will look
at three lines of evidence to see
that there is a God:
what we see in creation,
what we see in life,
and what we see in our hearts.
SESSION THREE
September 1, 2020
With All the Suffering and Evil, how could there be an All-Loving and All-Powerful God?
(Rev. Victor Nelson)
This question is asked philosophically –
that is a person sees evil
and cannot understand how
there can be a God
who allows it.
The same question is asked personally
when we experience suffering and evil –
if God exists, how can he
allow this terrible pain.
In this presentation, we will see responses
to both the philosophical question
and the personal question
about suffering and evil.
SESSION FOUR

Did Jesus Rise from the Dead?
(Rev. Victor Nelson)
If the resurrection did not happen,
Christianity is just a moralistic religion
that offers no hope for
forgiveness and eternal life.
But if the resurrection of Jesus did happen,
then our faith is of incalculable worth
as it offers what the soul needs.
This presentation will examine
the evidence for the resurrection.
SESSION FIVE

Is the Bible Reliable?
(Rev. Victor Nelson)
The Bible was transmitted
down through the centuries
by scribes copying.
Was it changed in that process?
Was there a committee who altered it
to fit the political and social landscape?
Was it like the game of telephone,
where the message is passed
from person to person,
and is completely changed
in the process?
Is there any evidence for
the accuracy of transmission?
Can we trust the Bible?
This presentation will
examine these questions.
SESSION SIX

Is There an Absolute Right and Wrong?
(Rev. Victor Nelson)
Isn’t right and wrong situational?
Doesn’t right and wrong depend
upon what the culture says
and the circumstance?
Can something be right
for one person
and wrong for another?
Is there absolute truth?
Most younger people were trained
to believe that there is no
real right or wrong -
are they right or wrong?
